Story
“As a doctor working in public health, the hardest thing for me is the lack of medical equipment and medicine, {because} proper medical attention isn’t just about the doctors, it’s also about the resources” Dr Samy Juarez, Director of the San Carlos Sija Health Centre, Guatemala.
'As One' is not your average charity campaign. It is a two-way movement, designed for people who believe in justice, not charity. It is an opportunity for us here in the UK to stand shoulder to shoulder with incredible health professionals who work in under-resourced health systems around the world. There are two stages to the campaign:
Stage 1- Financial
This month we are aiming to raise £10k to build capacity and empower health professionals abroad with additional training and resources.
Please donate now to help us reach our target before the end of November so that we can grow our movement and move to Stage 2.
Stage 2- Practical
If we reach our £10k goal then the real work can begin. We will be able to offer health professionals both here in the UK and abroad an opportunity to share their expertise with each other. By sharing values and knowledge we hope colleagues all over the world can support each other. Examples include video training on medicine within marginalised communities, mentoring, digital support groups and medical sabbaticals.
Without your support we won't reach our £10k goal and proceed to Stage 2:
· £82 could equip a health facility for a week with the essential drugs and equipment needed to deliver emergency obstetric care.
· £65 could pay for a midwife to attend a training session.
· £49 could help fund a local radio advert to deliver vital health information to communities with high rates of illiteracy.
Together lets stand 'As One', as equals, to empower, to support and share expertise
